Every subtest explained, how the 20–80 score works, the retake rule, and how to study.

What to expect

  • A cockpit horizon view and five outside-the-aircraft sketches.
  • On the real SIFT: 25 questions in 10 minutes.
  • Attitude and heading relative to the coastline both matter.

What it measures

  • 3-D spatial orientation from a pilot's viewpoint
  • Reading pitch, bank and heading off the horizon
  • Matching an internal view to an external one

Instructions

  1. 1Solve one axis at a time: pitch, then bank, then heading.
  2. 2Nose above the horizon = climb; below = dive.
  3. 3A tilted horizon tells you which wing is low.

Tips

  • Eliminate on a single axis before matching the whole picture.
  • The coastline fixes your heading — out, in, or along it.
  • Practise until reading an attitude is automatic.
