Privacy Policy

SIFT Ready is operated by Hamilton Technologies, the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us about privacy at corri.jones@hamiltontechnologies.co.uk.

SIFT Ready is free and you can practise without creating an account. We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account data (only if you create an account) — your email address and display name, and the sign-in method you use (Apple, Google or email/password). Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in plain text.
• Practice data — your test results: scores, accuracy, timing where applicable, attempts over time, and derived statistics used for your progress and leaderboards. If you are not signed in, your scores are stored locally in your browser and are not sent to us.
• Usage & device data — pages viewed, features used, approximate session activity, browser type, and similar technical/log data used to keep the service reliable and to improve it.
• Preferences — settings such as your chosen display name, remembered in your browser.

We do not collect location data. SIFT Ready is a website and does not access your device's GPS or precise location.

• To provide the service — run practice tests, save your scores, and show your progress.
• To operate leaderboards — your display name may be shown publicly alongside your ranking.
• To generate insights — trends and improvement over time.
• To improve the product — understand which features are used and where users struggle, and fix problems.
• To communicate with you — service messages, and (only where you have opted in) product updates.
• To keep the service secure — detect misuse, fraud and abuse.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Where UK/EU data protection law applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the service you request); legitimate interests (to secure, analyse and improve the service, and to run leaderboards), balanced against your rights; and consent (for any non-essential analytics or marketing emails). You can withdraw consent at any time.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

• Service providers who host and run the platform (application hosting, authentication, and — where enabled — product-analytics providers), acting on our instructions.
• Other users, but only the limited information you choose to make public: your leaderboard display name.
• Authorities or third parties where required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public.

We use cookies and browser local storage for essential functions (remembering your preferences and, if you are not signed in, your scores) and, where enabled, for privacy-friendly analytics. See our Cookie Policy for details and choices.

If you create an account, we keep your account and practice data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Scores stored locally in your browser stay on your device until you clear them. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data (see your rights below).

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and regulators of serious breaches where the law requires.

SIFT Ready is operated from the United Kingdom and serves users in the United States and elsewhere, so your data may be processed outside your home country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect it.

Subject to the law that applies to you, you may have the right to: access your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to processing; obtain a portable copy; and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact corri.jones@hamiltontechnologies.co.uk.

U.S. residents: depending on your state (for example California, under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. To make a request, contact us at the address above.

UK/EU residents also have the right to complain to a data protection regulator (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
